Meet Laurali: Whimsical Plant Mama

Meet Laurali: Whimsical Plant Mama, that's me!  You can learn all about me and the Girly Nature Lovers blog by opening up my about page.

I am all for nature enthusiasts and hiking adventures!  It's how I live my life here in a tiny seaside fishing village in Florida called Ozona.  You can read more about it here.

What most people don't know is that I grew up in the Mojave Desert in Southern California in a little town called Indio.  If you have no idea where that is on a map, you might have heard of the Coachella Valley Date Festival in Riverside County.

I lived a couple of blocks from it and now it's most popular for the indie bands and headliners that come out to play every February.  I always describe my childhood where I grew up at the bottom of an aquarium.  You can still find sea shells mixed with sparkling sand and treasures from ships that once sailed there.

My parents would take us out jeeping and we'd find old things in the desert, stay until we were far too tired, and watch the sunset go down in shades of deep purple. Even though I love Florida and call it home now, I'm so glad I got to experience the magic of the desert.

Real Florida Living

I've spent my entire adulthood living in Florida from the age of eighteen and I love it!  It's where I raised my kids and where I've had many hiking adventures on the beach, in the woods, swamps, and secret hideaway places.

Someday I'd like to be able to spend the fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in a cozy cabin, but I'll always come back to enjoy real Florida living.  I think my favorite part of living here is how even the weather moves slow.

I like how relaxed the locals are.  A lot of times we take it all for granted, myself included.  Recently, I fell back in love with this enchanted place.

Of course, there are always downsides to every place you live.  I try to hold onto the good stuff.  The Florida rainstorms, the salty scent in the air, the tropical plants, and the vast expanse of ecosystems.  The people here are friendly for the most part, with a lot of southern hospitality.

It's a nice place to live generally, especially if you can find a small town to settle down and enjoy the rest of your days.  I don't know if I'll stay in Ozona forever since I'm a renter, but I sure wouldn't mind it.

I think my ultimate dream for Florida would be to live in a pink house!  I already know of one that has charmed, but it's less than five minutes away in Dunedin.  It has so much potential and that's what I'm looking for as a future homeowner.  it's pink, Mexican-style architecture, and a hop, skip, and a jump from the water!

Naturally, whatever house I rent or own will always have my beloved pet plants.  I'm not just a whimsical plant mama, but kind of a nature spirit whisperer.  I talk to plants, flowers, trees, and of course, woodland creatures.

You can read a few fun facts and tidbits about me below.  I guess you could say my other dream would be to find a ruggedly handsome husband and an outdoor enthusiast.  When that day comes, and I beleive it will, I'll have a woodland wedding theme!
