DIY Fruit Snake Food Art

So, I was making a juice recently and made this adorable fruit snake food art for juicing!  Before my fruit snake was turned into my next juice recipe, I had to get some sweet pictures first!

The DIY Fruit Snake Food Art is really easy to make and kid-friendly!  Kids will mostly eat or drink anything with a cute face.  I guess in some ways I'm like a grownup kid because I feel the same way!

By the way, you know how they say never name your food before you eat it?  Well, I think with plant-based foods you're off the hook!  I named my fruit snake Whirly Girlie for an episode of the show Pretty Little Liars!

Let's talk nutrition and ingredients before we put our fruit snake together into some great food art!  A healthy kid or child-like grownup needs their essential vitamins and minerals.

Fruit Snake Nutrition

Spinach - This Green part of the juice comes from spinach leaves. I usually grab one heaping handful of leaves to put in my nutri-bullet. If you're vegan, like I am, then spinach will give you a healthy dose of protein, niacin, thiamin, zinc, lots of fiber, which is good for digestion. If you're not sold yet, it also has vitamins A, C, E, and K. Of course, that's not all. With spinach, there's always more, and that's what I love about it!

Bananas - Bananas are known for monkeys, and well, potassium. They are also a great source of fiber and carbohydrates. You know, the complex, healthy kind. Plus, they taste good! Grape Nuts - Known for being a powerhouse for both fiber and protein. This is especially important for aiding with digestion and plant-based diets.

Blueberries - are known to help memory retention and assist with studying, taking tests, and hitting the books hard. Perfect for back to school and to assist with making you mentally alert and focused.

Beyond that, blueberries are packed with vitamin C, something to get your day going and give you an energy boost! They are also filled with folate, fiber for digestion, vitamin B6, and they are fab for lowering your overall blood cholesterol. Good stuff, right?

Turmeric Root - is like the doctor of all roots! It will aid you with inflammation give you a high boost of energy. Feeling tired and depleted? Add a turmeric root sprig to your juice or smoothie, or even your detox water, for a high energy boost!

DIY Fruit Snake Food Art 

The DIY fruit snake doubles as both food art and a simple green juice recipe.  It's both cute as a bug's ear and as sweet as something akin to honey!

Plus, its easy enough for a child to do under your care and supervision.  It could be really fun to make and drink with your kiddo!

Please note:  You are going to need a juicer for this. I recommend something with a built-in cup.  I use a NutriBullet, as you can see in the picture.


  • One heaping handful of spinach
  • One medium to large banana
  • Blueberries
  • One piece of turmeric root.  I used one chunk in the pic because I have a small-sized cup.

DIY Fruit Snake Instructions:
  1. Before getting started, be sure to wash all your fruits and veggies.  
  2. For the bottom substrate, add a heaping full of dark leafy greens (spinach)
  3. Unpeel one banana and squish his bottom part to the bottom of the juicing cup, so that Whirly Girlie is in the upright snake position.  You know, snake charm him!
  4. Now, add his blueberry eyeballs by slightly pushing them into your banana snake's head so they stick.  
  5. Sprinkle some blueberries at the bottom
  6. Add your orange chunk of turmeric root to the bottom gently for a pop of colors.
  7. Take lots of pictures and give your fruit snake a name or use Whirly Girlie!
Now, here's the hard part.  You're going to have to gobble up your fruit snake or rather drink him up for a dose of energy.

It's okay though.  You can officially call yourself a snake charmer and it won't even be a lie!

Fruit Snake Green Juice Recipe Instructions:
  1. Add some sparkling fresh water to the fill line of your juice cup then mix well in the juicer.  If you want it to feel more like a shake, add an ice cube or two.  
  2. Drink up by adding it to a cute cup with a straw.  See this recipe.  Enjoy!
